ISLAMABAD, Jan 27 (APP): Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir has said that President Asif Ali Zardari’s ideas about the need for regional approach to the Afghan issue have been reflected in the conference of Afghanistan’s immediate neighbours in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Talking to a private news channel,he said a consensus has been developed in the conference in this regard.
Salman Bashir added Islamabad adopted a very principled stand on Afghan peace and stability, saying that role of President Zardari towards Afghanistan’s peace and reconstruction was highly appreciated in the regional conference.
He said bilateral meetings of President Zardari with other participants of the conference remained focused on regional issues relating to Afghanistan issue.
He said the participants of the conference supported Pakistan’s apprehensions that the Afghan soil should not be allowed to be used against other countries.
He said Pakistan wants such a strategy under which all immediate neighbours of Afghanistan can cooperate with each other and also support efforts of the Afghan government and its people to resolve their problems.
